Far West Mojo

Far West Mojo (FWM) is a participatory mobile journalism program that uses digital storytelling skills and iPhone connectivity to create local community stories that are published on the Internet. The mojo concept is created by Burum Media with training delivered by Ivo Burum. It is Commissioned by the Australian Red Cross to provide a new way of engaging communities in local storytelling. Participants from Ceduna, Oak Valley and Koonibba in South Australia, learn how to use a smartphone to shoot and edit grass roots stories told from a very different perspective, their own. Professional mobile tools and skills enable local people to create their own less marginalised voice and to deliver stringer content from their own communities. Trainee-trainers and support people complete the small team that will travel throughout the communities delivering training over a six week program.
